Edward John (known as Eddie) was sadly, very suddenly taken away from us Thursday 16th October 2008.

He was a loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandad, brother, brother-in-law and son-in-law.

Eddie was a warm, loving, gentle, kind hearted man who never ever saw bad in anyone or anything. He would always take time out to help people whenever and where ever he could.

Eddie was originally from Weymouth, Dorset.
He moved to Leeds to start a new life with his mom, step dad, 2 brothers and 1 sister in 1967.

In 1973 he met me (Anna).
Eddie moved from Leeds to Halifax to be with me and we married in 1977.
3 years later we had Nick followed by Christopher.
Eddies life was complete.

Eddie was a joiner by trade - a "Perfectionist" at heart. He took pride in everything he did and lived by the motto "If its worth doing, its worth doing it right"
Before Eddie died he was working with old friends at Dean Clough, Halifax. His presence will always be felt and his smile will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Eddie was very much a family man, always looking out for me, Nick, Chris and the rest of the family.

Recently we moved into our dream home. Eddie has spent the last 18 months trying to get our home as usual...... "Perfect"
Eddie wasnt a social animal, he loved nothing more than being at home with me and the family, pottering around the garden and spending time in his aviary with his birds.

Eddie will be greatly missed by everyone he ever met and knew. Life will never be the same again without him. His memory will always live on in our hearts which are aching for him at the moment.

A POEM FOR DAD, OUR HERO

He never looks for praise
He's never one to boast
He just goes on quietly working
For those he loves the most

His dreams are seldom spoken
His wants are very few
And most of the times his worries
Will go unspoken too

He's there, a firm foundation
Through all our storms of life
A sturdy hand to hold
In times of stress and strife

A true friend we can turn to
When times are good or bad
One of our greatest blessings
The man we both call DAD

If we could write a story
It would be the greatest ever told
Of a kind and loving father
Who had a heart of gold

If we could write a million pages
We'd still be able to say
Just how much we love and miss him
Every single day

We'll remember all he taught us
We're hurt but we wont be sad
Cos he'll send us down the answers
And he'll always be our DAD

GRANDAD

Hello grandad, well little Miss Powell is certainly standing her ground and is staying put. Was due Wednesday so now 40 + 2!!! Really didnt think she would be staying in there so long. Obviously just building all her strength up before she decides to show herself LOL.

Me and Nick have been a bit emotional this last week what with little Miss due and you and other family members not being here to celebrate things with us. Its so sad and such a shame but we know that you will all be watching down on us and showering us with all your strengths (I'm going to certainly need it LOL).

When she arrives we will bring her down to the cemetary to see you and to show her where her grandad rests. We know that you would have loved and cared for her so so much.

Joanna and Abigail cant wait to be BIG SISTERS.

Well lets watch this space now and see what happens - HURRY UP LITTLE MISS P!!!!!!

Thinking about you especially at this special time

Martin House

Oh my lovely, what a fantastic day is the way I would describe it. So many memories for me especially, and very strange without you there. The girls have had a fantastic time and enjoyed little Maddi's company what a pleasure and joy she was. Kept thinking about you helping to paint that little baby boys feet and putting the prints onto a plate, how cute. Everybody is still as joyous and fantastic as ever but I know you don't need me to tell you. Take care my husband, lover and best friend forever xxxxx

GRANDADDY AGAIN!

Well GRANDAD (again) at long last and after lots of pain and heartache we have got there in the end, a successful little bump is now growing thick and fast. A true little Powelly!
I'm sure you have been there through everything with us, showering us with your strength.
Little Powelly is due on the 15th September and we cant wait.
Just cant believe that you are going to miss this little grandchild, its first words, its first steps, its first day at school etc etc.
When it gets old enough i will be sure to fill it in on its grandad, what kind of person he was and how much he is always missed.
Look after the 3 of us as we still need all the strength we can get.
My love to everyone up there with you including our little Alfie too - everything happens for a reason.
Lots of love as always Little Mrs P Carrie xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
